Stevenage Phoenix Running Club is affiliated to England Athletics (EA) and Herts County Amateur Athletics Association (HCAAA)

The club reviews its decisions surrounding its affiliations each year. In January 2026 it was agreed that Stevenage Phoenix would affiliate to England Athletics, in addition to HCAAA.

What does this mean for me as a member of Stevenage Phoenix?

EA. Affiliation to England Athletics requires the club to pay an annual fee of £205. This fee provides important third party insurance benefits to the club and its coaching team.

At Stevenage Phoenix we want to be able to provide free training to those who do not wish to compete in races. We therefore offer two types of membership; social and competitive.

Social membership: Free to 1st and 2nd claim members.
Social membership gives you access to all of our training sessions and social runs. You'll also be included in club member communications and invited to social events throughout the year.

Competitive membership: £35 per year for 1st claim members only.
Competitive membership includes the above as well as additional benefits. Below is a table summary and links for more information.

Membership runs from 1st April to 31st March. Membership for new members joining between 1st January and 31st March will run from joining date through to 31st March the following year, in line with EA affiliation joining date rules.

HCAAA. Affiliation to HCAAA enables our members to compete in Herts County road races together with the club supporting the association. Herts County has a range of road races that provide competition for seniors and vets.

To be legible to compete in the County Championships you simply have to have been born in that county, have resided there for a specified number of time or meet other conditions your county allows for.

Speak to the Head Coach for details on the County Championship races taking place.

The aims of the club are:

1. To provide opportunities for members to train in the company of other members, in an inclusive environment.
2. To share knowledge and experience, and encourage newcomers to the sport of running.
3. To assist members to enter competitive running events, individually and collectively.
4. To offer coaching and competitive opportunities in running to meet the aims of individuals.
